An example of an annular eclipse from 2009

Monday morning brings a surge of focus into the already highlighted Gemini right now, with the Sun moving in on Monday morning with the Moon closely behind bringing about a new moon at 9.48am AEST / 2.48am Israel /12.48am UK. My take on the new moon, as many of you know, is all about using that 72 hour period to plant the seeds of any projects, ideas, tasks, energies you would like to see flourish under your hands during the month. This doesn’t mean you can just start it and then forget it, hoping it will take on a life of its own. What you start will require nurturing and attention, but this phase of the moon will add extra oomph to anything you begin now. Being Gemini, look to things aligned with the twins, such as perception, communication, research, variation. It is a time to become curious about life again, to add a boost of vitality to what can easily become a cynical view considering all that goes on in the world.

But this isn’t any old new moon. Firstly, it is an annular solar eclipse, so in China, Korea and Japan it will be around sunrise on Monday and for our US (well, those west of the Mississippi) & Canada readers you’ll get a spectacular view of the eclipse just before or around sunset on Sunday. What does this mean? Solar eclipses are the sun hidden behind the moon, so expect your deeper emotional self to be taking over for a little while, trying to get its chance in the spot light. Allow feelings before action, soul needs ahead of individual identity. With Gemini in the mix and a square to Neptune, our abilities for perception will be powered up, so don’t be surprised if you are picking up more from the unseen world; hidden thoughts, unspoken ideas, ingenious intelligence. Consciously used, this time offers a powerful chance to move towards our true purpose by giving your brain the day off and allowing your spirit to take you for a spin. Where can that lead? To the universe and back, of course! Directions via this wonderful Monty Python clip – you can’t get much more Gemini than that!

Or you could bring your mind to what you feel is valuable in your life, helping to work out your priorities in order to simplify your decision making. With Venus now retrograding in Gemini this is a excellent time to be mindful of your values and think on how you can align your thoughts and actions with them more. For example, a recent conversation helped me see how little hope I hold for the future when I look at the craziness of the world around me. I suddenly realised that hope is a choice. I can either allow things to overwhelm me, or I can hope that situations, people, events will become the best they can possibly be, beyond my small understandings. So, this month, I will be working on consciously bringing more hope into my life. What will you choose to work with?

The second thing about this new moon is that it is the first of two in Gemini the next one being on 20 June. The last time this happened was in 2004 in Aries, so it is a chance to be jumped on.  Whatever you choose to work on now over the next few days will get another boost in June, so use it wisely as it will be another three years before a chance like this is offered.

This post keeps getting longer and longer, so more on the week coming up…

Weekly Forecast 13 May

by PRadmin on May 13, 2012

Early on this week we are offered the chance to reach deep to find the courage to face your previous fears and voice something important to you. The Moon in Aquarius offers a cool head and help you to circumnavigates tense stand offs by approaching with practical solutions to the issue and ideas for making a difference. At this time words carry a lot of power, but if you choose them wisely you can ensure hidden power struggles are laid to rest and pave the way to a new beginning.

Monday sees opportunity knocking as Sun comes up to meet Jupiter. You may realise a feasible way to bring some big dreams into reality. It is also a day of indulgence, when you will want to let your sense roam and play. So, just for one day, leave the diet or the budget at the door and allow yourself a little treat, or a large one. Be generous with yourself, and with others, with the north node in the mix you never know what will come out of it in the future.

Tuesday sees Venus come to a standstill to begin her backwards movement, right as she makes a link to serious Saturn. Venus has been taking things rather lightly of late, perhaps putting yourself out there more than usual, so now is the time to regather yourself, value yourself, think about what you want. It’s like coming to a cross roads in life and deciding to step back to think about which road to take instead of rushing headlong down the wrong path. You’ll have time while Venus slips backwards for the next seven weeks, so don’t rush yourself. I have written more on this Venus retrograde here.

The Uranus Moon meeting in Aries on Wednesday will highlight the energy of “me first”, wanting to create emotional space and new independence. Just make sure you don’t push others too far away as this sudden urge will dissipate quickly and you don’t want to be left standing on your own. If you use your day wisely and make sure you have some self time you can reconnect with others more easily afterwards with a fresh, new perspective on the world.

The upcoming Venus retrograde throws light on your relationship with yourself. It is often said that to truly love others you first need to love yourself. Seems easy, yet living in a world that deals harshly with mistakes and requires success as a measure of merit, being truly happy with who you are can be a difficult thing.

Firstly, you actually need to know yourself. Who has the time? We are constantly adjusting as we meet new experiences and are shaped by the people and events that cross our path. Are you the same person as you were in high school? Last year? Have you asked yourself what is different? These unconscious shifts mean it is important to keep in touch with yourself and your unconscious drives, otherwise they tend to take the driving seat and leave you as a passenger, saying “Why did we take that turn?” This upcoming Venus retrograde offers the perfect chance to stop and build that relationship with yourself again.

Venus is usually all about relationships and relating to the world around you, so when she shifts backwards her focus turns inwards, into your hidden world. Humans are complex beings, made up of many parts, and they all grow and evolve as you do. As in any group, not all parts want the same things and some will voice their needs or desires more loudly, even if they are not necessarily more important.

In my life, I often push myself to do things, and do them perfectly, driven by parts instilled through my early years. Then, when pushed too far, I procrastinate, unable to find the energy or the drive to do the things that really are important for me. Unless I consciously choose to make an effort to get to know all parts of myself on a regular basis and understand all of their needs, I will be forever in that cycle. Running on the spot. Going nowhere fast.

So, how do you reconnect with yourself? I like to think of it as big Self and little selves, like Snow White and her seven dwarves. Big Self is the core you, the one who sits back and listens to all the voices of the little selves are going around and around. You know, when you lie in bed at night and there is an argument going on in your head and you just wish they would all quieten down? This Self is who you want to know and understand, the one connected to your spirit, to your true purpose. If you don’t connect with this Self it becomes like Snow White, a servant to all the little selves and their every whim. Or perhaps it has fallen into a deep sleep and you need to take the role of the prince coming to give the metaphorical kiss of life.

As in life, there are countless ways to administer that kiss but you need to make sure it fits the situation to have the best affect. So yes, meditation is one way to examine our parts from a distance, but Venus in Gemini calls for writing it down or even better, talking to yourself out loud. I know it seems crazy, and you may look a little crazy doing it, but when thoughts bounce around in your head without expression only certain parts of you are involved. If you say it out loud, or write it down, then every part of you can hear your thoughts and your needs. Then these different parts have the chance to align behind your conscious choices rather than pulling you in so many different directions that you end up going nowhere.

From here, as you spend more time building your relationship with yourSelf the road to self-respect opens through self-understanding. You can suddenly see that each voice is just one small part of yourself that doesn’t reflect who you are and doesn’t need to drive your choices. Instead just say “Oh, there goes that part again, wanting what it wants” and then go on doing what you know is the right thing to do, for yourSelf. It may even help you to give names to those parts, like Perfectionist, Critic and my personal favourite, the Crazy Woman. No need for self-judgement, self-blame, no harsh critic. Instead acceptance, understanding, and self-compassion take their place. The relief that comes with that is immense and freeing, allowing you to climb back into the driver’s seat and get yourself together to start moving towards your true purpose. Now that’s a happily ever after, and what can be more Venus than that?!

After a burst of Aries energy, the Sun is now steadily making its way through Taurus. Weekly forecast 15 April – Taurus offers the olive branch

April 16, 2012

Today the moon highlights the Mars-Neptune opposition, so while there has been a definite shift in being  more outwards now Mars is direct, today could feel like a back-slide. Frayed tempers, misunderstandings, low energy or even illness are possible now (as I write with a tissue glued to my nose). However, it is all in [...]
